  • Magic Focus – Increases magic damage (like how strength increases melee damage).
  • Magic Inhibition – Decreases magic damage (like how weakness decreases melee damage).

  • Explosion – Explodes you.
  • Combustion – Sets you on fire.
  • Lightning – Strikes you with lightning.
  • Launch – Shoots you up into the air.

Defense:

  • Vulnerability – Increases all damage to you (like how resistance decreases all damage to you).
  • Broken Armor – Decreases your armor
  • Iron Skin – Increases your armor
  • Diamond Skin – Increases your armor toughness
  • Magic Shielding – Protects you from magic damage (which is normally unblockable)
  • Solid Core – Gives you knockback resistance.
  • Revival – If you die with this effect on, you will revive with 2 hearts per level.

Utility:

  • Step Up – Increases your step height so you can step up a full block.
  • Reach – Increases your reach distance.

  • Disorganization – Shuffles your inventory
  • Perplexity – Reverses your controls so forwards is backwards, sneak is jump, etc.
  • Extension – Prevents one other potion on you from ticking down per level. Essentially doubles the length of another potion on you.
  • Chance – Gives you one random potion effect (could be good or bad).
  • Bless – Gives you one random good potion effect.
  • Curse – Gives you one random bad potion effect.
  • Cure – Clears all bad potion effects from you.
  • Dispel – Clears all good potion effects from you.
  • Inversion – Inverts all potion effects on you (like regeneration -> wither, strength -> weakness, etc.).
  • Potion Sickness – Disabled by default. Has a low chance of giving you a random bad potion effect.

It also changes the way a few vanilla potions work:

  • Blindness – Now the fog comes closer per level (making you more blind), and it also affects mobs, so they won’t attack you unless you are close to them.
  • Jump Boost – You can control how high you jump by holding down the space bar, so you can jump up one block instead of shooting into the air.

Trivia[]

  • A potion can reach a maximum tier of 127, but using the command, effect levels can reach 255.
  • When a player drinks two potions by quickly switching to another potion immediately after drinking one, the second drinking animation is not shown.[verify]
  • A potion of Poison II lasts for 22.5 seconds, but it is displayed as 22 seconds because the item hover display shows rounded-down integer values.
  • The «Local Brewery» advancement uses the Uncraftable Potion texture for its icon.
  • Bedrock Edition has unused potion textures for several effects, along with their splash and lingering variants. These effects are: Absorption, Blindness, Haste, Health Boost, Hunger, Mining Fatigue, Levitation, Luck, Nausea, Resistance, and Saturation.

Splashes[]

Splashes were player-hosted events where someone used splash potions to give multiple people effects at once at a fraction of the cost-per-person.

Typically, a splasher would gather between 20 and 30 people in a party, and charge each person according to the types of potions; a full suite of positive effects would cost 90k coins, while more specific effects may cost less. After the party reached capacity, the splasher would warp everyone to an empty lobby and splash all the potions on them. This allowed the splasher to take a profit from brewing potions, while providing positive effects to individuals at a fraction of the cost.

With the 0.9 Community Center Update, these have decreased in popularity heavily due to the addition of the God Potion which can provide all these potion effects at a more efficient cost. However, it is still common for players to splash themselves and their teammates with a potion at the beginning of a Dungeon, since their God Potion would be paused and inactive.

Brewing[]

A Brewing Stand is required to make potions, which can be bought from the Alchemist for 30 coins each.

Potion brewing is similar to vanilla brewing, with Nether Wart turning water bottles to awkward potions, Glowstone Dust increasing its potency, and Redstone increasing its length. However, unlike vanilla Minecraft, Glowstone and Redstone can be stacked on each other (but only one of each kind)

There are some notable differences to how brewing works in SkyBlock, such as:

  • Brewing does not require Blaze Powder (unlike vanilla 1.8)
  • The brewing stand uses a custom UI, and players can hover over the colored panels to see time remaining (20s total)
  • Potion duration is affected by the brewer’s Level
  • Enchanted items will result in stronger and/or longer potions

Potions are brewed by placing bottles in the lower slots and an ingredient in the upper slot. When a potion is brewing, the glass panes in the middle will flash orange and yellow. After 20 seconds, the potion will finish brewing.

Most potions last 3 minutes, which is increased by level and adding Redstone. The default level of the potions depends on the base ingredient; enchanted forms give a higher base level.

Modifiers

After creating potions, players can add certain additional items to boost or alter their effect. Each effect can be combined with the others, although each effect can be applied only once.

If the Enchanted Redstone Block is added before the Enchanted Redstone Lamp, the potion duration will be extended to the 3rd level. However, if done the other way round, the duration will not be extended to the 3rd level.

Show/Hide Potion Modifiers

Duration Increasing ingredients
Make sure to add the redstone component after the glowstone component.
  • Duration — This increases the duration of the potion effect by a specific value.
    •   Redstone: Sets duration to 8 minutes
    •   Enchanted Redstone: Sets duration to 16 minutes
    •   Enchanted Redstone Block: Sets duration to 40 minutes
    •   Enchanted Redstone Lamp: Sets duration to 16 minutes + raises the level by 3; counts as both a Duration and Level modifier, and thus cannot be stacked.
Level Increasing ingredients
  • Level — This increases the effectiveness of the potion level. Each potion will have a different maximum level.
    •   Glowstone Dust: Increases level by 1
    •   Enchanted Glowstone Dust: Increases level by 2
    •   Enchanted Glowstone: Increases level by 3
    •   Enchanted Redstone Lamp: Sets duration to 16 minutes + raises the level by 3; counts as both a Duration and Level modifier, and thus cannot be stacked.
Splash Potion ingredients
  • Splash potions — This allows the player to throw potions.
    •   Gunpowder: Converts potions into splash potions but causes the total duration to be halved.
    •   Enchanted Gunpowder: Converts potions into splash potions, with no penalties. Adding Enchanted Gunpowder before Redstone will remove any benefit from using the Enchanted Gunpowder instead of normal Gunpowder.

Brews

Main article: Brews

The Bartender, the Melancholic Viking and Shifty sell Brews that can be used instead of awkward potions to boost the stat of a potion. These boosts work only on potions that already have the stat or are specified for use, and any percentage boost is to the potion’s stats, not the player’s.

Obtaining[]

Mob loot

Witches

Witches can drop potions of Healing, Fire Resistance, Swiftness, and Water Breathing, but only when they die while drinking that potion.

Wandering traders

Wandering traders have a chance to drop potions of Invisibility, but only when they die while drinking the potion.

Filling bottles

Using a glass bottle on a water source block or a cauldron that has water turns it into a water bottle. Using a glass bottle on a cauldron that contains a potion turns it into a bottle of that potion.‌[Bedrock Edition only] Using a glass bottle on a cauldron also removes 1⁄3 of that cauldron’s contents, but using a glass bottle on a water source block does not affect the water. Filling bottles from a water source (but not a cauldron) can be automated by placing the bottle(s) in a dispenser (again, the water source block remains unaffected).

Brewing

Main article: Brewing

Almost all potions can be obtained by brewing, starting with the water bottle as the base.

The potion of Luck‌[JE only] and the potion of Decay‌[BE only] cannot be brewed. A potion of luck can be obtained via commands such as , while a potion of Decay can be obtained via . Both are also available through the creative inventory.

Chest loot

Two Instant Health II potions can be found in a brewing stand on ships in end cities, and one splash potion of Weakness can be found in a brewing stand in igloo basements.

in Bedrock Edition, the cauldron in a swamp hut contains a random potion.

Item Structure Container Quantity Chance
Bedrock Edition
Potion of Regeneration Buried treasure Chest 1 34.3%
Potion of Water Breathing Buried treasure Chest 1 46.9%

Piglins may barter a potion or splash potion of Fire Resistance or a bottle of water when given a gold ingot.

Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator (Русская версия)

  • Default: 0
  • Range: 0 20
  • What it does: Represents your magic armor, which protects you from magic damage (since magic damage penetrates normal armor). Used by the magic shield potion.

Theres also a new potion mechanic, Potion Sickness, that limits how many beneficial potions you can drink at once (in case you dont want to get too over powered). After you reach a certain configurable number of good potion effects, you will get potion sickness, which will rarely give you bad potion effects as long as you have it. So if you are too greedy, you could literally blow yourself up. It is disabled by default; you can enable it in the config file.

Most settings can be enabled/disabled/modified in the config files.
