Accessing[]

  • The Keep of the Lead Lord always contains a room containing a Fireplace, which can be extinguished with any non-oil Goop and then interacted with to reveal a room containing the hatch to the Oubliette.
    • One (or two) water barrels

      This water barrel can rarely spawn inside of the Oubliette entrance room, necessitating use of a goop to extinguish the fireplace.

      can almost always be found randomly in a separate room on the same floor.

  • After extinguishing the fireplace and activating it, the chance for a water barrel to spawn within the same room as the Fireplace increases dramatically for the save file.
    • The spawn chance for this water barrel appears to be independent from water barrel spawns outside of the fireplace room.
  • After reaching the Oubliette once, the water barrel usually spawns in the fireplace room or a room adjacent to it.
  • The hidden room contains a hatch with two locks. Unlocking both locks (which takes 2 keys) opens the trapdoor, and entering the trapdoor leads to the Oubliette.
  • Entering the Oubliette for the first time unlocks Trashcannon and the Grate Hall achievement.

Arm Quest[]

Ox is missing his left arm when he is first rescued. The Blacksmith in the Forge has a replacement arm, located to the left of her. The arm will only be there after the High Dragun has been killed at least once.

After picking up the arm, a red balloon will randomly drop from an enemy on the floor, which will send the arm up a floor. The arm and the balloon can then be dropped by random enemies in the Hollow, and the arm can again be sent up a floor. This must be repeated until both items are found in the Keep of the Lead Lord, after which they will be sent up to The Breach and Ox will receive the replacement. In return, Cadence rewards the player with Clone.

The balloon will be lost if the enemy carrying it falls down a pit.

Using Shortcuts will not stop the arm or balloon from spawning. The arm will move up a floor regardless of whether the player completes the floor.

It is possible to deliver the arm during Boss Rush if Wall Mimics spawn. It is also possible for enemies carrying the Arm or Balloon to be knocked into pits, thus causing the loss of that item, forcing the player to redo that floor to get the Balloon and arm again.

Effects of Curse[]

  • Jammed enemies start appearing and become more common with each point of curse.
    • Jammed enemies drop more .
    • Jammed enemies deal 1 full heart of damage (but still deplete 1 armor as usual), move and shoot 50% faster, have their cooldowns reduced by 33%, deal contact damage if they didn’t already, and have increased health equal to .
    • Jammed enemies move slightly faster.
    • Keybullet Kin and Chance Kin can be jammed and upon killing will drop two items.
    • Jammed enemies have a maximum health of , where X is the floor’s multiplier.
  • Veteran enemies, such as Veteran Bullet Kin, Veteran Shotgun Kin, Blue Bookllet, and Green Bookllet become more common with higher Curse.
  • Jammed bosses can appear, which behave like regular bosses but deal a full heart of damage with every attack and have their health modified by the formula .
  • The chance to receive a reward upon clearing a room decreases with each point of curse, similar to how Coolness increases said chance.
    • The chance starts off at (1+-)%

      The effect of negative drop chance is unknown.

      , and for every room cleared without getting a reward, it increases by a fixed amount (approximately 9% in a normal single-player run), up to a maximum of 85% on floor 1, or 80% on any other floor. When a reward is dropped after clearing a room, it goes back to (1+-)%.

  • The chance to receive ammo upon clearing a room increases with each point of curse.
  • The chance of a chest becoming a Mimic increases by 2.1% for each point of curse.
  • The chance of a chest having a fuse when discovered increases by 5% for each point of curse.
  • Players become able to enter the without the need to hold 100 coins if they are cursed at least once.
  • Lord of the Jammed spawns when the player reaches 10 curse. It cannot be killed, and continually chases the player.

Past 10 curse, the odds of enemies and bosses being jammed stays at 50%, but other effects continue to increase linearly.

  • The blanks from Ser Junkan’s Holy Knight form are affected by items (for example, Gold Ammolet).
  • The Ammonomicon lists this item as «Junk», instead of Ser Junkan.
  • Ser Junkan will revert forms whenever Junk is lost, such as by dropping it or using it to complete the Hollow shortcut.
  • Unlike regular Junk, Ser Junkan does not synergize with Trashcannon. However, he does have an with Trashcannon.
  • When upgraded to Angelic Knight, Ser Junkan’s bullets are affected by bullet upgrades.
  • When upgraded to Angelic Knight, Ser Junkan’s bullets are affected by Flak Bullets which may cause lag.
  • Ser Junkan is one of the few items that can be dropped by breaking any chest in Rainbow Mode, unless already unlocked.
  • Battle Standard can be unlocked by upgrading Ser Junkan to Angelic Knight.

  • Until the Gunslinger is unlocked, it is impossible to reach the Gun That Can Kill The Past with the Paradox. Although the entrance to Bullet Hell will be closed, the Lich will always grab the Paradox as they walk past and bring them to the next chamber unless Bullet Hell has not been unlocked by killing the past of the main 4 Gungeoneers.
    • Once the Gunslinger is unlocked, the entrance to Bullet Hell is open as normal and the Gun That Can Kill The Past is accessible.
    • However, if Bullet Hell has not been unlocked, then the Paradox is forced to end the run with the Gun That Can Kill The Past, as the Lich will not pull the Paradox into Bullet Hell. The credits will show as if using the Gun That Can Kill The Past without the Bullet That Can Kill The Past.

  • If The Paradox spawns with the Gunknight Armor, Gunknight Helmet, Gunknight Gauntlet, or Gunknight Greaves, The Paradox will start with two shields instead of one. This is because you obtain these items in the breach, which is chamber 0 in the game code.
  • If you kill the Lich while in Rainbow Mode, and you don’t have Gunslinger unlocked, you will start as Gunslinger from the beginning to unlock them, but the Rainbow mode will still be active.
  • Playing The Paradox with a blessing will not carry over onto the Gunslinger.
  • Killing the Lich as The Paradox without having unlocked Gunslinger does not count as an actual Lich kill, and will not add his respective entry to the Ammonomicon nor will it unlock his respective unlockables.

Barrels[]

Barrels contain elemental goop. Interacting with a barrel will roll it and leave a trail of goop. Bullets cause barrels to explode, splashing the area with long-lasting goop.

Sprite Function
Explosive barrels explode when shot. Enemies and Gungeoneers alike are damaged by exploding barrels. Dodge rolling through an explosive barrel destroys it without causing an explosion.
Exactly the same as Explosive Barrels. Extremely rare.
Water barrels leave water when rolled or shot. The water overrides other liquids and can be electrified to deal damage to enemies.
Oil barrels trail oil when rolled or shot. Explosions and fire weapons ignite the oil, dealing significant damage to walking enemies.
Toxic barrels spread poison when rolled or shot. Enemies that step on the goop are continuously hurt for a few seconds.

Barrels can be rolled into corridors and other rooms. Barrels do not roll into pits, but stop right at the edge of the pit, making it difficult to roll them anywhere else. Enemies, particularly Bullet Kin, tend to be distracted by rolling barrels and shoot them.

Water barrels in the Keep of the Lead Lord roll slower than other barrels, so that maneuvering them into the Fireplace is practical.

Notes[]

  • The Gungeon Proper always contains a room lined with mysterious tombs and an altar. Placing a Crest on this altar opens a staircase leading to the Abbey of the True Gun

  • Before being given to the Blacksmith in the Forge, Bello will sell the Prime Primer for 110 shells inside of a glass box.
    • If the player has both brought the Prime Primer to the Blacksmith and Killed the High Dragun, the Gnawed Key

      These items are separate from other items sold and does not take away from his sell capacity.

      will be sold for 115 shells in its place instead.

  • After completing the floor’s shortcut, the Busted Television can be found within the floor’s Elevator room.
  • A secret room containing the High Dragunfire can rarely be found in the Gungeon Proper. The cracked wall to this secret room can only be located on the left or right side of a room, not the top or bottom.

Effects[]

Ser Junkan follows the player around using a jetpack, retrofitted mechsuit or ascendant powers, depending on combo level, and uses ranged attacks to attack enemies. Earning a higher combo levels him up, and Junkan remains at the highest combo level the player has attained:

  • Combo 1-3: Regular Junkan: Attacks enemies using a weak pistol.
  • Combo 4-7(?): Soda Hat Junkan: Junkan gains a soda hat and attacks using a slightly stronger pistol.
  • Combo 8-10: Crash Helmet Junkan: Junkan gains a Crash Helmet and attacks using a stronger pistol.
  • Combo 11 and 12: Pilot Junkan: Junkan gains a helmet similar to a helicopter pilot’s, and attacks using an even stronger pistol.
  • Combo 13 and 14: Jet Fighter Junkan: Junkan gains a fighter pilot’s helmet, complete with mask, and attacks using a far stronger pistol.
  • Combo 15-17: Astro Junkan: Junkan gains an astronaut suit and attacks enemies using a shoulder-mounted blaster similar to The Predator.
  • Combo 18 and 19: Mecha Junkan: Junkan gains his mechsuit from EtG, now retrofitted for flight, though at the cost of the suit’s limbs. Junkan attacks enemies using homing rockets.
  • Combo 20: Ascendant Junkan: Junkan becomes a shade of blue with white flames surrounding him and gains a third eye. Attacks enemies using red bolts of energy, fired from Junkan’s third eye. This is Junkan’s strongest form in XtG.

Story[]

Before the Cultist enters the Gungeon, their reason for being there is probably to make their sibling take the blame for spilling grape juice on the couch, as stated in the Ammonomicon entry for the Dart Gun. However, their motives change over the course of what happens in the Gungeon as they are treated poorly by the NPCs. Eventually, they come to the conclusion that what they want is to defeat player one and become the protagonist.

Past Kill

If The Gun That Can Kill The Past is used on The Cultist, they will be brought back to The Breach earlier that same day. The Cultist will tell the protagonist that they are sick of being referred to as «Number 2» and will then challenge them to a duel over who the game’s story will focus on. Two pedestals each carrying a Magnum will have spawned, one behind the protagonist and one behind The Cultist. The two players are then allowed to move around The Breach, pick up a Magnum and fight each other to the death. Each player has 3 hearts and 2 blanks. The Breach is completely devoid of any of the usual NPCs at this time and all doorways, including the entrance to the Gungeon, are blocked off. A few tables are also scattered around, as to provide cover during the fight. If The Cultist wins the duel, they declare themself the hero only to realize that their actions could very well make them the villain.

Regardless of who wins the duel, the Cultist’s alternate costume will be unlocked.

  • If activated, the «increase speed when out of combat» effect will work for both players, since they technically are not fighting enemies and are at the Breach.
  • The guns in the cultists past can run out of ammo, despite the game not showing the ammo counter.

Exit The Gungeon

Alongside the other gungeoneers, the Cultist must fight to escape the now collapsing Gungeon. At the end of the game, the Cultist manages to reach the escape ship, but is left behind by the other gungeoneers.

Co-op Features[]

  • A controller has to be connected to be able to play co-op, otherwise the Cultist does not appear in the Breach. You can talk to the Cultist near the selectable Gungeoneers to start co-op mode.
  • Enemy health is increased by 40%.
  • There is an increased chance that a pickup spawns upon clearing a room.
  • Guns can be traded between the protagonist and the Cultist via gun dropping.
    • This is usually done by holding F for a keyboard or holding the «Down» direction on the D-pad of the controller.
    • The same can be done with active items by holding G or «Up» respectively.
  • Passive item benefits are only given to the player who picks up the item.
  • Synergies

    When playing with The Gunslinger in co-op, Lich’s Eye Bullets works with both players, effectively awarding both of them with every synergy upon gun pickup.

    can be shared between players.

  • Synergy effects will work with both players. For example, Witch Pistol’s synergy will make all players have larger bullets when held.
  • Dead players cannot do any standard player actions except moving and performing a short-range blank by pressing the respective button (or any button on console). The player turns gray once it’s used and cannot use it again until they return to their normal blue color after several seconds. The dead player also can’t use normal blanks, if that player has them stored.
    • Players drop all of their guns and items on the ground upon death. These items can be picked up by the surviving player, and items left on the ground may be taken by the Resourceful Rat. Items like Master Rounds and Yellow Chamber will still award a heart container on pickup, but it will not be filled with a heart. This works for both players.
    • There are three ways to revive a player in this mode. In every case the dead player will be revived to full HP.
      • All unopened chests in the current chamber will turn into revival chests. If a revival chest is opened, the dead player will pop out of it, the chest will be consumed, and other chests in the chamber will revert to normal. Keys are not required to open these chests. It is recommended to check the chest’s quality by looking at the map so that the players don’t lose better grade chests for reviving, but instead using lower grade ones to do so. If a chest is destroyed, it revives the dead player without giving any pickups or Junk.
      • Beating any floor boss.
      • Using the Friendship Cookie.

Clutter[]

Clutter is a wide variety of minor objects found throughout the Gungeon, ranging from flowers to crates to skeletons. A few kinds of clutter can be found atop tables. Some clutter objects will stop a single bullet before being destroyed, while others do not obstruct gunfire. All clutter breaks instantly on contact with a Gundead creature or Gungeoneer. Clutter has a very tiny chance to spawn a Gun Fairy when broken. If the Pot Shots challenge is active, clutter objects have a chance to fire bullets at the player as they break.

Alone among clutter objects, stalagmites in the Black Powder Mine absorb multiple bullets before breaking, and block the movement of Gundead.

Synergy Chests[]

Synergy chests are special chests added in the Advanced Gungeons & Draguns Update. Upon opening them, they will either turn red or blue and drop a random item or gun with random quality.

  • If blue, they will drop an item or gun that completes a synergy.
  • If red, they will drop an item or gun but with an unlikely chance of a synergy.

After freeing Synergrace, Synergy chests will appear randomly in the place of regular chests past the first chamber, and will always have a fuse. They have a roughly 5% chance to replace a normal chest, and one is guaranteed to spawn after defeating Old King. They can also be purchased from Synergrace.
