Конфликты и совместимость

Этот мод совместим как с 32-битной, так и с 64-битной версиями The Sims 4. Мод работает с изданием «Legacy». Он включает в себя эффекты других модов настроения, созданных roBurky. И если у Вас установлены моды от этого автора, то они должны быть удалены перед установкой «Значимых историй».

Что делает этот мод?

Представьте ситуацию. Ваш сим впадает в депрессию на несколько нескольких дней. И ему понадобится приложить много усилий и получить немного помощи от своих друзей, чтобы преодолеть эти трудности.

Творческий характер Вашего сима может наполнять его вдохновением, даже когда сейчас не самое подходящее время для этого. Поэтому Вам придется отправить его работать над своим романом, чтобы выбросить эти идеи из головы.

Но затем происходит нечто особенное. Например, новый друг, повышение по службе или первый поцелуй. И теперь персонаж чувствует себя действительно счастливым!

Значимые настроения

В «Значимых историях» игра создает эмоции гораздо умнее, тоньше и разнообразнее.

Сим не сможет перейти от сильной грусти к сильному счастью, не пройдя сквозь промежуточные эмоции. Хорошая комната и удобное сиденье не приведут к тому, что сим слегка развеселится. А небольшое количество дискомфорта может сделать сима более восприимчивым к негативным мыслям.

Эмоциональная инерция — эмоциональное состояние Вашего сима будет менее предсказуемым, но более стабильным. Изменения в настроении будут более значительными и будут длиться дольше. Но из-за этого заставить сима чувствовать эмоции, которые Вы хотите, может быть немного сложнее.

Истинное счастье — счастье больше не будет состоянием по умолчанию для Ваших симов. Они будут чувствовать себя по-настоящему счастливыми только тогда, когда с ними случится что-то достойное. У персонажей должно быть ощущение, что их жизнь улучшилась, чтобы испытать чувство счастья.

Эффекты окружающей среды. Иллюстрации и объекты с эмоциональной аурой больше не будут влиять на настроение Вашего сима. Эффект будет более тонким, накапливаться и исчезать со временем.

Вместо слов «очень счастлив» или «очень кокетливо» автор изменил названия. Теперь вы сможете увидеть униженного, бесстрашного, яростного, в восторге, страстного, убогого и т.д.

Менструальный цикл

Вы получите бафф, который позволит узнать официальную дату начала менструального цикла. Ваш сим должен быть подростком, чтобы иметь возможность пройти цикл. Цикл продлится 2 сим-дня и вернется через 12 дней.

Multimedia variations

Some services, such as MuzIcons, combine emoticons and Adobe Flash music player in a widget.

In 2004, The Trillian chat application introduced a feature called «emotiblips», which allows Trillian users to stream files to their instant message recipients «as the voice and video equivalent of an emoticon».

In 2007, MTV and Paramount Home Entertainment promoted the «emoticlip» as a form of viral marketing for the second season of the show The Hills. The emoticlips were twelve short snippets of dialogue from the show, uploaded to YouTube, which the advertisers hoped would be distributed between web users as a way of expressing feelings in a similar manner to emoticons. The emoticlip concept is credited to the Bradley & Montgomery advertising firm, which hopes they would be widely adopted as «greeting cards that just happen to be selling something».

Japanese Emoticons: Animals

Cat

Japanese believe that cats are insanely cute creatures. This explains a variety of anime and manga fetishes: cat ears and tail, saying «nyaa~» (nyaa — «meow» in Japanese) and other kawaii things. Therefore, it’s not a surprise that in kaomoji main animals are cats. So, if you want your emoticon to become a nice kitty, use = = for its mustache and ^ ^ for the ears.

Bear

Japanese bear emoticons are easy to identify by their special snout (ｴ) or ears ʕ ʔ.

Dog

The secret of dog emoticons is in the ears ∪ ∪. Use these characters instead of brackets.

Rabbit

It’s not a secret that rabbits are extremely cute animals. And emoticons are able to make them even cuter. You can use x for your rabbit’s face and slashes for its ears.

Pig

You can use (оо), (OO) or (ω) for a pig nose. Add it to your emoticon and you’ll get a funny cute pig.

Bird

For bird japanese emoticons and their mouths (beaks) you can use such characters as Θ or θ. This is the main idea.

Fish and seafood is an inevitable part of Japanese life. That’s why fish and sea creatures emoticons are quite popular too. You can use

For spider emoticons use characters /\╱\╮╭╲ for the legs and try to add a few pairs of eyes.

Spread

In 1990, a series of three dingbat fonts known as Wingdings were incorporated into Microsoft Windows. Though the fonts, which turn letters into glyphs, shapes and small pictures, were not necessarily meant to be used as emoticons, many AOL users used them to decorate their profiles.

In the spring of 1991, author David W. Sanderson shared a list of smilies with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, who began hosting it on their website. This compilation of 650 emoticons was turned into a book published six years later. In 1992, Internet enthusiast James Marshall also began compiling a list of smilies on his personal website. As of 2008, he had collected 2,231 different smileys. The first book on emoticons, titled Smiley Dictionary: Cool Things to Do with Your Keyboard by author Seth Godin, was published in January 1993.

Japanese Emoticons: Various Actions

Greeting

For greeting (and farewell) Japanese emoticons you can use forward and backward slashes as a standard. However, there are a few more interesting options, such as ﾉ or ノ. And if you want your emoticon to wave its hand, try to use ヾ, ﾉﾞ and their various combinations with the «tilde».

Hugging

For hugging emoticons use respective outstretched arm characters.

Winking

Winking Japanese emoticons look cute and they are quite easy to be made. Just use different characters for left and right eye.

Apologizing

In Japan, when expressing apology, it is common to perform a traditional bow. Therefore, apologizing Japanese emoticons are created this way. Use lowered eyes (_ _ or . .). If the bow is performed from a sitting position, you can use m m for the eyes. Otherwise, use characters for shoulders.

Nosebleeding

If you want to depict nosebleeding / nosebleeds like in anime and manga use the following characters: i, ﾊ, ;, 〃.

Hiding

Using character | for hiding emoticons makes them look like if they are peeping from behind the wall hiding from somebody.

Writing

Character φ looks good as a pen, if you want to make writing emoticons. You can also add a few underscores or dots to depict the process of writing itself.

Running

You can create running Japanese emoji by adding special motion effects. Among available charactrers are ε, =, ミ and C.

Sleeping

Use zzZ for snoring. You can also put your sleeping emoticon on a pillow . Simple as that!

Origin

ASCII Art, or the concept of turning letters and characters into pictures, has been around since at least 1966. However, the earliest known iteration of ASCII-based facial expression is the smiley face (represented as «:-)» to indicate sarcasm in the preceding statement) as proposed by ARPANET user Kevin MacKenzie via MsgGroup mailing list on April 12th, 1979. The earliest recorded usage of the smiley face has been attributed to a post written by Scott Fahlman, submitted after a three day long discussion on the Carnegie Mellon University computer science general message board about jokes and how to distinguish humor online:

Fahlman took credit for inventing the “:-)” and “:-(” emoticons on his website. Decades later, Fahlman stated in an April 2001 interview that he created the smiley to better understand his peers, whose sarcasm on the message board was sometimes misread due to the lack of facial expressions or tone of voice. Meanwhile, the term “Emoticon,” a blending of the words “emotion” and “icon,” appeared in print publications for the first time in the New York Times on January 28th, 1990 and added to the Oxford English Dictionary (shown below) in its June 2001 print edition, followed by the first Urban Dictionary definition submitted on October 1, 2002.

How and When Did Emoji Replace Emoticons?

Shigetaka Kurita, then an interface designer for a Japanese mobile operator, created the first popular emoji in 1999. There were others two years earlier, but it’s the 1999 set that became popular in Japan, as mobile operators added it to their messaging features.

The first emoji ever made, according to the interview Shigetaka Kurita gave to Vice, was a heart icon. Faces with various emotions followed, inspired by the people the designer saw in the city. The first set included a total of 176 icons, denoting things like emotions, weather, sports, and everyday objects.

In 2010 emoji were added to the Unicode standard, and that allowed tech giants like Apple and Google to bring emoji to their users’ devices. Once iPhone and Android users were able to add those cute little pictures to their messages and posts, they gleefully did so. Emoticons, which used to dominate text messages, became few and between.

As you know, by now emoji have pretty much pushed emoticons out of online conversations. But if you’re still nostalgic for the Shruggie, here are five sites to copy-paste emoticons, emoji, and more.

2channel style

The Japanese language is usually encoded using double-byte character codes. As a result there is a bigger variety of characters that can be used in emoticons, many of which cannot be reproduced in ASCII. Most kaomoji contain Cyrillic and other foreign letters to create even more complicated expressions analogous to ASCII art’s level of complexity. To type such emoticons, the input editor that is used to type Japanese on a user’s system is equipped with a dictionary of emoticons, after which the user simply types the Japanese word (or something close to it) that represents the desired emoticon to convert the input into such complicated emoticons. Such expressions are known as Shift JIS art.[]

Users of 2channel in particular have developed a wide variety of unique emoticons using obscure characters. Some have taken on a life of their own and become characters in their own right, like Mona.

Static vs Animated Emoticons

There are generally two flavors of emoticons, the static (not animated) icons and the newer and more stylish animated emoticons.

When MSN Messenger 6 was launched in mid-2003, it introduced custom emoticons as one of it’s revolutionary new features. It allowed users to add their own emoticons and use them in conversations. These emoticons were limited to a maximum size of 19×19 pixels and could not be animated, but still allowed for some very interesting emoticons to be created.

With the arrival of MSN Messenger 7 in late 2004, Winks were introduced and the emoticon limitations were increased to 50×50 pixels and allowed animations, certainly a big improvement! Emoticon designs could now include much more detail thanks to the increased size and animation capabilities.

Are Emoji and Emoticon the Same Thing?

Emoji and emoticon is not the same thing, and don’t let the internet tell you otherwise. The two terms have been used interchangeably even by media giants like New York Times and BBC, but they do, in fact, mean different things.

What causes confusion is that both emoticons and emojis are used to spice up text conversations and inject them with emotion. And it doesn’t help that they sound alike.

But the difference between them is actually very simple: emoticons are combinations of symbols available on your keyboard, like letters and punctuation marks, while emoji are pictures. We’ll explain this in more detail.

What Is an Emoticon?

As we briefly explained above, an emoticon is a set of punctuation marks, letters, and numbers arranged to resemble a human face. Each emoticon is more or less universally understood and denotes a certain emotion, or sometimes an object. For example, 😀 means laughing or a big grin, :-O is for surprise, and <3 is the closest you get to a heart.

Eastern and Western cultures have completely different sets of emoticons, though. Western ones are to be read sideways, from left to right, while Eastern emoticons don’t need to be rotated and can sometimes use non-Latin characters.

Emoticons Started With a Joke Gone Wrong

In 1982, Neil Schwartz posted a physics riddle involving mercury and a candle on the Carnegie Mellon University message board. To that, his colleague Howard Gayle replied:

«WARNING! Because of a recent physics experiment, the leftmost elevator has been contaminated with mercury. There is also some slight fire damage. Decontamination should be complete by 08:00 Friday.»

It’s easy to predict what happened next: the joke went terribly wrong and spurred panic on the campus. And that, according to the legend, is why emoticon was born.

Dr. Scott E. Fahlman, a computer scientist at CMU, suggested that all jokes on the message board be marked with the 🙂 set of characters, which looked like a smiling face rotated sideways. A different set of characters, :-(, would follow all serious posts. These typographic faces then spread around the web and became known as emoticons, or «emotion icons.»

What Is an Emoji?

An emoji (plural emoji or emojis) is a pictogram, a small picture that can show anything from a smiling face to a mango to a cigarette butt. New emoji appear every year to the delight of smartphone users. The word emoji essentially means «picture-character» (from Japanese e — «picture,» and moji — «letter, character»).

Several thousand emoji have corresponding codes in Unicode, a computing industry standard for encoding. Messengers, social media apps, and browsers read the code and show you a graphic that matches it. Different software can have slightly different graphics, which is why an emoji you send from an iPhone is not quite what the recipient sees on an Android phone.

Some Emoji and Emoticons Are Interchangeable

To make things even more ambiguous, some emoji have emoticon counterparts. Most of the round yellow faces on your smartphone have corresponding sets of characters you may or may not remember, depending on your age.

Some of those are difficult to interpret if you don’t know what they originally meant—like the :$ that corresponds to the Flushed Face emoji. Others are easy to recognize, like the ‘,:-| that stands for the Face with One Eyebrow Raised. A few other, non-face emoji have typography twins, too. There’s </3 for Broken Heart, @}->— and a few others for Rose, and even *<|:?) for Santa Claus!

What Is a Smiley, Then?

Sorry to open a whole new can of worms here, but we have to address this. Generally speaking, smiley is a graphic representation of a smiling face, whatever the form. The original emoticon 🙂 counts as a smiley, and so does the Slightly Smiling Face emoji.

Originally, smiley was the yellow smiling face that was designed in 1963 and became a symbol of the rave culture. But when emoticons entered chatrooms, we started calling them smileys as well. In ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, and other turn-of-the-century hangouts, smileys became more elaborate, varied, and even animated.

What are Emoticons?

The word Emoticon is a combination or blend of the words Emotion and Icon, its pronounced as Emoti-con (/imotikon/). The terms Smileys and Smilies are also used to refer to Emoticons, but we’ll get to that a little bit later.

Emoticons are emotional icons or graphics: a visual way to express your emotions, attitude, how you feel and what you want to say. They’re extremely helpful in situations where words just simply aren’t enough. In a way, emoticons are an online substitute for real-life properties such as the expression on your face or the tone of your voice, they help you to clearly set the context of your messages.

Unicode

Emoticons are introduced in Unicode Standard version 6.0. It covers unicode range from 1F600 to 1F64F.

Emoticons in Messenger

Although Messenger provides some 80 built-in Emoticons, not every single emotion (like love, sadness) can be conveyed using the default MSN and Live Messenger smileys. For this reason, Messenger allows you to add your own custom emoticons, so that you can use any smiley or emoticon that you wish — and we’ve got tons of free emoticons!

Japanese Emoticons: Negative Emotions

Dissatisfaction

Dissatisfaction can be easily expressed by kaomoji’s facial wrinkling. You can use ＞＜ characters for dissatisfied or displeased Japanese emoticons. Additional wrinkles can be added by # character. You can also express dissatisfaction with eyes like ¬ ¬ or ¯ ¯ and with a well-chosen mouth. Such techniques are quite common in anime and manga.

Anger

The secret of angry or evil emoticons is in their eyes. Use ` and ´ or ｀ and ´. Just don’t change the characters’ order, otherwise your angry emoticon will become friendly and kind (compare: ` ´ — evil eyes, ´ ` — kind eyes). In addition, you can add «wrinkles» ＃ and their stronger forms: メ or ╬; and 凸 (middle finger) and ψ (claws) as an arm. You can also use «snarl» 皿 or 益.

Sadness

Sad or crying emoticons are quite easy to create. Use Т Т, ; ;, >

Use characters >

Fear

For scared or frightened Japanese emoji use forward and backward slashes and similar characters depicting that they hide their faces in fear. You can also try to depict screaming, waving their arms and so on.
